Summer of Riesling 2017*
terroir | tribeca
In preparation, please:
-send the kids to camp…or to your neighbors
-watch Old School and The Big Lebowski, back to back, repeatedly
-find a grassy patch and walk barefoot, all the while singing “Edelweiss”
-remember that Winter is coming…but only after the Summer of Riesling
-tattoo on your right arm: “Riesling is always dry” (except when it is not)
-listen to your entire catalogue of Depeche Mode records
(in the songwriting of Vince Clarke and Martin Gore, you can hear and see the purity of Riesling)
-read A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce
(like Stephen Dedalus, Riesling has engaged in its own struggle for stylistic autonomy:
“…I go to encounter for the millionth time the reality of my terroir expression and to forge in the smithy of my yumminess the fully created conscience of balance and complexity
and delicacy and longevity.”)
-call Mom and Dad and tell them you love them
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, at 4:00pm, to start the festivities.
There will be pork schnitzel sandwiches.
There will be lederhosen.
There will be cake.
There will be LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of Riesling.
*the actual start time is 12:24am EDT (which means that our friends in Kansas City / Denver / Los Angeles will start SoR on Tuesday the 20th…we are jealous) and the official end date is Friday, September 22nd.
