There is no need to reserve a table...unless you want to and we will gladly do so.
There is no need to exercise beforehand...you will not be tasked with escaping an active volcano.
There is no need to be a wine expert to enjoy these wines...John will provide all the wine expertise necessary.
There is every need to want to savor the glory of a wine grown on volcanic soil.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow night, Tuesday.
*And why might wines grown on volcanic soils be of interest to us?
-because volcanoes are all about destruction AND creation…it is the circle of life, as Chazz Reinhold reminded us
-because fruits and vegetables grown on basaltic soil are just so damn yummy…
think of San Marzano tomatoes (Mount Vesuvius) & Jamaican coffee (Blue Mountain) & Maui Gold pineapples (Haleakala)
-because volcanic soil has a high content of silica / iron / magnesium / potassium +++
and the resulting wines, therefore, have a greater expression of minerality
(uhmmmm, this might be an alternative fact…John will need to dispel it, though)
-having said all the above, there is no single type of volcanic soil…John will expand on this, I hope

*And who is this John Szabo?
-firstly, John is NOT a geologist nor a volcanologist
-more importantly, John is the very first Canadian to ever attain the title of Master Sommelier
-John’s magnum opus, Volcanic Wines: Salt, Grit and Power, was published in 2016
(the book is no longer in print…apparently, the manuscript was consumed in the Strombolian activity of Cumbre Vieja in 2021)
-John is the co-founder of the conference, Volcanic Wine International
-John is a partner in & a contributor to WineAlign, Canada’s most hugest wine publication
-John makes wine in Prince Edward County…where his creations come face to face with his wine criticisms

We love that John loves volcanic wines.
