terroir
welcomes Guest Sommelier,
Lara Haag of Schloss Lieser
(and what a schloss it is…filled with many a metric tonne of Riesling)
Monday, June 23rd, 2025*
6:00pm – 8:30pm

As part of her somm duties, Lara will be pouring:
THE NE PLÜS ÜLTRA TASTING FLIGHT

Riesling Spätlese, Niederberg Helden, Schloss Lieser, 2021, Mosel

$34.00 Flight (3 oz. of each wine)
*no reservations necessary…just curiosity and a modicum of thirst
THE NOTES:
The WHERE: the Mosel Valley, of Germany…a wineland so magnificent
that the super steep, solid slate hillsides
(impenetrable to all forms of agriculture other than the vine)
overlooking the meandering and alluring Mosel River, are protected by dragons…
to ward off jealous French producers of Chardonnay.
The WHO: Lara Haag, the first of her name,

is the second generation of the Haag family to oversee
the newly revitalized Schloss Lieser estate
(her mom & dad had purchased the property in 1997).
Lara studied International Wine Business at Geisenheim University,

then travelled the wine world to gain knowledge,
including a stint at Hi-Time in Costa Mesa, CA (this place is a trip!).
She joined the family business in 2017

and presently oversees Marketing & Sales & Philosophizing.
The WHAT: a pristine & energetic expression of monumental vineyards, in liquid form.
The WHY: when presented with the Riesling grape and Devonian blue slate terroir,
you do not make apple juice.
The MOTTO: I drink Riesling and I know everything
*okay, okay, that is the motto of terroir but ultimate illumination is not only garnered in the Citadel…just saying
We look forward to honouring Lara
and the über yummy and important wines

of Schloss Lieser with you.
