TERROIR
welcomes
Jancis Robinson,
co-author of The World Atlas of Wine, 9th Edition,
to celebrate the release of
The World Atlas of Wine, 9th Edition
A quick note about Jancis Robinson:
she is the most influential wine person in history…
well, okay, at least since Marie Antoinette
chose the reception wines for the Revolutionary Tribunal.
A quick note about The World Atlas of Wine:
it is the most influential tome crafted by mankind in history…
well, okay, at least since Athena
crafted The Ten Wines All Greek Gods Should Know.
And what exactly is going to happen on Friday, the 9th of October,
from 4:00pm – 5:30pm, with Jancis:
-of course, we are going to be selling the greatest wine book published in the last 845 years
(the book cost will be $55.95…and yes, that is less than Amazon charges!!!)
-there will be a walk-around wine tasting, featuring 9 wines,
each selected to celebrate an edition of The World Atlas of Wine.
(the TASTING will cost $25.00 and tickets can be purchased
in advance or at the door on the 9th, starting at 3:52pm)
-a cartographer will craft a map of the terroir wine cellar…
it will be in 5 dimensions
-a curator from the Library of Congress will oversee
the induction of The World Atlas of Wine,
Editions 1-8 into their permanent collection
-a wine fountain will dispense Kensington Kabinett 2025
(harvested in Hugh Johnson’s backyard)
Other important stuff to ensure this is the greatest wine day of 2026:
A bigger note about Jancis Robinson:
simply put, what has Jancis not done…
she was the first person outside the wine trade to receive the Master of Wine /
she is a member of the Order of the British Empire /
she has won James Beard Awards /
the French erected a statue in her honour in Roussillon /
she defeated Clive Coates in a cage match in 2015 /
she co-wrote Wine Grapes, the definitive catalogue of every grape in the solar system /
she won Dancing with the Wine Stars,
besting the ghost of André Simon in the Viennese waltz
One wonders why Britain has not asked her
to steer the country through its present morass.
A bigger note about The World Atlas of Wine, 9th Edition:
well, it is bigger than the 8th Edition, with more maps /
more generalized wine thoughts / more dives into newer regions.
Overall, about 33% of the words are brand new;
truly these words were crafted specifically for this work,
thought up by Jancis and her co-authors, Julia Harding and Hugh Johnson,
while they were traversing the moors of Dartmoor.
We very much look forward to seeing you
on Friday the 9th of October, at 4:00pm,
to celebrate Jancis, the world of wine, and THE book about wine.
